Laser Stretch Mark Removal – Laser Stretch Mark Treatment that Really Works!

By

Why Do We Get Stetchmarks?

Stretch Marks are a common problem and can appear anywhere on the body where the skin has been stretched.  Most of us have them or will get them at some point as they are often a result of fast weight gain/loss Stretch marks are most likely to occur in places where fat is stored or close to movement joints. Areas they appear on include the shoulders, abdomen, breasts, upper legs, upper arms, thighs and buttocks. If you have them you need to realize that they don’t pose a health risk and don’t prevent the bodies normal healthy functioning.  I developed stretchmarks on my upper arms and lower back from doing lost of weights at the gym without moisturizing my skin!  It was a real shock at first, and they were really ugly, shiny and red!

What Causes Stretchmarks?

Stretchmarks in pregnancy are common, but stretch marks also occur to adolescents experiencing fast growth phases and athletes, especially bodybuilders who practice strenuous and repetitive exercise.  The use of products containing harsh ingredients, such as lightening creams will put the skin under stress and damage the skin and resulting in stretch marks.

It’s a myth that men don’t get stretch marks.  Men’s skin is thicker and less prone to stretch marks, but actually they are a common problem faced by both men and women. Some skin types are more susceptible to stretch marks than others, and on some people they are very feint and hardly noticeable.  For other people, the marks can be very noticeable as raised, ugly white or dark red lines found on the thighs, buttocks, arms, stomach, or breast area. Stretch marks can be unsightly and cause a lot of embarrassment, preventing the sufferer from wearing swimwear or revealing clothes.

On the human body, are three layers of skin: the epidermis (upper layer), the dermis (middle layer), and the subcutaneous stratum (innermost layer).  Stretch marks appear in the dermis; the strong middle layer that serves to maintain the shape and elasticity of the skin.

When the dermis is subjected to stress, massive hormonal changes and imbalances, bad nutrition and is constantly stretched over time, it loses its elasticity and then there is tearing of the small connective fibres within this layer. The resultant skin damage is what we see as stretch marks.

The problem is that the actual stretch marks are well beneath the top layers of skin.  Topical creams and many of the treatments available in stores are unable to really repair the damage; they simply make the stretch marks look a little better.

Laser Stretch Mark Removal - How Does It Work?

Laser Stretch Mark Therapy works to heat the dermal layer in a very targeted manner (don’t worry you won’t feel it – it’s microscopic). The stretchmark laser “surgery” uses a narrow beam of light that transmits through the skin helping to stimulate the cells in the dermis to produce new tissue. This Laser stimulates the growth and production of collagen and brand new skin cells, heightening new collagen growth, which heals the tears and results in a smooth, healthier skin.

Lazer stretchmark therapy permanently reduces the size and appearance of the stretch marks and lightens the colour of dark red or blueish stretch marks.

Laser Stretch mark Removal - Does it REALLY Work?

I have had laser stretch mark treatment myself on the upper arms, lower back and upper bottom and can truly say that the results were a 70% improvement.  After 3 treatments, the stretch marks looked thinner, lighter and smaller.  For you it may be more or less successful, depending or a number of factors.

Laser stretch mark treatment works best when combined with a skin resurfacing treatment such as microdermabrasion therapy.  Microdermabrasion is another good stretch mark treatment which sand blasts the skin with tiny crystals to remove the surface skin layers. The problem is it doesn’t reach the dermal layer, where the stretch marks actually occur, and that’s why it works best when combined laser stretch mark therapy. Microdermabrasion does have the advantage of being cheaper than other skin resurfacing techniques and the actual procedure is quick and simple

How Long Does Laser Stretch Mark Removal Take?

The evidence shows that laser stretch marks treatment achieves the most spectacular results, when the stretch marks are treated slowly over several treatment sessions. This may take as many as eight to ten treatments.

Many factors can determine how long the lazer stretchmark treatment process takes and these include the age of the patient, the age of the stretch marks, and depth of the stretch marks. Some skins heal faster than others and healing time varies from person to person. Laser stretch mark removal surgery is shown to be the most successful form or stretch mark treatment.

Stretch Mark Prevention Is Better than Cure

If you are worried about stretchmarks, especially during pregnancy or other periods of high weight gain/ loss, it’s important to use a good moisturising cream to avoid them.  Vitamin e oil mixed with your twice daily body cream works extremely well.

Pay attention to you nutrition, taking a daily vitamin capsule, drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep.  Exfoliate regularly and moisturise right afterwards.

That's an interesting fact about microdermabrasion as well as laser. I've had nearly 20 laser treatments..and I don't see any improvements. It has costed me a fair bit with nothing in return! Can only keep trying new things I suppose..
